What I’m Watching: Penny Dreadful, Season 2

We are always at least a Season behind the times in our house (we’ve been cable-cutters for nearly 10 years now).  So, I understand that avoiding spoilers, like knowing what recently happened on the series-ending episode of Penny Dreadful, is and will always be an impossibility.  Besides, for emotionally stressful shows like this…and Walking Dead and Game of Thrones and Person of Interest and so on…I kind of appreciate the ability to have some sanity saving advance knowledge of the big events.

Anyway, we are enthralled with Season 2.  I totally didn’t expect to love this show as much as I do.  The subject matter (classic horror monsters, witches, etc.) have never really been my thing.  But this show makes it all interesting to me.  And, my god, Eva Green is phenomenal.  And Josh Hartnett.  And don’t even get me started on my over-acting, guilty-pleasure, hunk-of-a-man, Timothy Dalton (my love for him was born way back with the 800-hour BBC Jane Eyre mini-series from the early 80’s).

Chillingly good.
