What I’m Listening To – Tread Perilously (Podcast)
I listen to a handful of podcasts via iTunes and Overcast every week. Of course, I’ve discussed “My Dad Wrote a Porno” before in this blog. My fondness for MDWAP is due primarily to the Everest levels of insane hilarity it causes (seriously, I’ve nearly injured myself laughing will listening to MDWAP). Most of the other podcasts I listen to are Geek / Pop Culture oriented, which should come as no surprise.
Tread Perilously marries up the hilarity with the geekness with the pop culture and throws in a hefty measure of intelligent critical thinking for good measure. And it’s a brand new addition to the Fanbase Press podcast network, home of Fanbase Weekly, which I co-host along with Bryant and Barbra Dillon, and Drew Siragusa.
Tread Perilously is a weekly “worst of TV” podcast.
Watching the worst episodes of popular shows, hosts Erik Amaya and Justin Robinson attempt to determine if they would continue to watch the series based on its most off-key moments. TV shows regularly tread upon include Doctor Who, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and 7th Heaven.
From family dramas to well-loved but brief sci-fi series, Tread Perilously examines how a show sustains itself even in its worst moments.
THE FANBASE WEEKLY: EPISODE #012
In which we discuss Lois Lane’s terminal case of Prosopagnosia, the very bad weekend Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are sharing, our total lack of shock at the can of sexual-harassment-worms to be found in yet another convention circuit, and the death of comics…again.
Special guests: Nick Paul (Magician) and Eddie DeAngelini (Hi De Ho Comics, Collectors)
THE FANBASE WEEKLY: EPISODE #010
In which we discuss disgruntled movie industry employees, practice saying “Alden Ehrenreich” over and over, muse over casting possibilities for Lando Calrissian, drool once again over Luke Cage, and mourn the diminishing possibilities for more ghostbusting by Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.
Special guest: Robert J. Peterson (California Coldblood Books, Writer of The Odds and Omegaball)
FANBASE FEATURE: PANEL DISCUSSION ON ‘STAR TREK BEYOND’
Wanna know what’s better than seeing Star Trek Beyond twice in the theater? Getting together with some of your favorite geeky people and talking about it at length. So much length!!
All our hopes, dreams, disappointments, elations, and love for Simon Pegg…wrapped up nice and tidy in one little podcast. Oh, and spoiler alert…we talk about it all.
Live long and imposter! (Yeah, you’re just going to have to listen to the podcast for an explanation on that one…)
THE FANBASE WEEKLY: EPISODE #009
In which we imagine our reactions to a movie we haven’t seen, speculate about making friends with aliens 10 trillion years from now, get our Halloween plans pencilled in on our calendars, and realize that Wesley Snipes is relevant to everything.
Special guest: Andre Owens (Force Galaxia)
